John Mangan

Writer and Guest Director

John holds a BA (Hons) in English Literature from University College, London and an MA in Creative writing from the UEA. He is also an actor, trained at LAMDA, whose first professional appearance was at the Royal Court, London in Bille Brown’s …tuff.  He has since played about 50 leading parts in over 60 stage productions, as well working as a stage director.

He is the creator and writer of the feature film The Haunting of Harry Payne (2014) starring Tony Scannell, Graham Cole and Katy Manning. He has written for ITV (principal scriptwriter for Anglia TVs Help!) and for BBC Radio 4’s Weekending.

His stage plays include Matters of Life and Death (Edinburgh and Tour) and Goin’Back (Belfast). John wrote Edith Cavell – Facing the Silence for Broad Horizons in 2015 and The Little Bit The Boys Admire in 2016.

John joins us for Murder, Margaret and Me as our guest director. He has directed over twenty five major productions ranging from classics like The Provok’d Wife, and comedies like Dead Funny to musicals like Guys and Dolls.
